Using mangrove trapdoors and Redstone, a Redditor develops Connect 4 within Minecraft

Redstone provides one of Minecraft's most powerful features, allowing users to automate block motions and construct innovative contraptions. In the past, gamers attempted to create many types of board games and other digital games within Minecraft itself using redstone contraptions. A similar remark was recently made on the popular Minecraft Reddit page.

A Reddit user known as 'u/betterthanlars' shared a video showing how they used a few basic redstone contraptions and new mangrove wood trapdoors to recreate the popular board game 'Connect 4' within the sandbox title.

The player in the video utilizes concrete powder blocks as tokens and drops them into a hole, where they fall and launch thanks to a redstone contraption using slime blocks. Following a vertical launch, another redstone device made of slime blocks propels the concrete powder blocks onward.

They eventually collided with a wall behind the mangrove trapdoors and plunged between them. The circular cut-out on the trapdoor precisely replicates the board game's actual wall where players can see the tokens.

Gamers respond to Minecraft Redditor's Connect 4 creation

Many people enjoy the board game Connect 4. Even while it is not as popular as it once was, it brings back happy childhood memories. As a result, when Reddit users saw the ancient board game replicated in the sandbox title, they were overjoyed. Within a day, their article gained over 10,000 upvotes and numerous comments regarding the mechanics of the build.

That original poster and the developer of the device responded on the thread, stating how they spotted a manual version of the game developed by another Redditor titled 'u/X3noF3ar' and attempted to automate it using the redstone contraption. The Redditor who made the manual version of the game also responded amusingly saying they are lazy and do not want to mess about with redstone.

A commenter joked that the original poster would need a pal to play the board game with. Connect 4 is a two-player game, and the Redditor mistook the original poster for being in the single-player realm, so they made this joke. However, a YouTube video created by the gadget's designer demonstrates how they have a pal to play Minecraft with.

Some newcomers to the game wondered how the blocks could bounce about. People clarified that these were powdered terracotta or concrete powder blocks that bounce when they come into touch with slime blocks.

The message was generally positively welcomed by Redditors. Connect 4 is a fantastic board game, so they were overjoyed to see it reproduced within Minecraft. Even a day after it was published, the post continues to receive views and upvotes.
