Sodium is a free and open-source rendering engine solution for the Minecraft client that increases fps, lowers micro-stuttering, and addresses graphical flaws. When compared to other modifications, it has wide compatibility with the Fabric mod ecosystem and does not compromise on how the game looks, giving you that true block game experience.

  • If you're upgrading from OptiFine, you should expect a large performance boost, especially when paired with our other optimization tweaks. The Fabric community has also created a slew of alternative modifications that use famous OptiFine features like "Connected Textures".

Minecraft Sodium Fps Boost Mod Features

  • A current OpenGL rendering pipeline for chunk rendering that uses multi-draw methods to significantly reduce CPU overhead (by 90%) when drawing the world. This can have a significant impact on frame rates for most systems that are not constrained by the GPU or other components. Even if your GPU can't keep up, you'll get considerably more steady frame rates since the CPU can work on other rendering jobs while it waits.
  • Vertex data for rendered chunks are compressed significantly, reducing video memory and bandwidth needs by over 40%.
  • Nearby block updates now employ multi-threading, which considerably reduces latency spikes produced by chunks that need to be updated. (Before and after)
  • Chunk faces that are not visible (or are facing away from the camera) are culled extremely early in the rendering process, saving a massive amount of geometry that would otherwise have to be processed on the GPU only to be wasted. This can significantly reduce memory bandwidth needs for integrated GPUs and give a minor speedup even when GPU-bound.
  • There are several optimizations for chunk loading and block rendering, which make chunk loading substantially quicker and less detrimental to frame rates. (Before and after)
  • Many optimizations for vertex construction and matrix transformations, considerably speeding up to block entity, mob, and item rendering for when you get carried away and place too many chests in one area.
  • There have been several enhancements to how the game manages memory and allocates objects, resulting in lower memory usage and latency spikes caused by garbage collector activity.
  • Many graphics enhancements for smooth lighting effects, improving game performance while still allowing for a reasonable level of optimization. Consider this before and after comparison of a white concrete room in vanilla, or this contrast while underwater.
  • Fluids and other unique blocks benefit from smooth illumination. (comparison)
  • Smooth biome mixing for blocks and fluids, resulting in dramatically increased visual quality while using significantly less processing power. (comparison)
  • Animated textures that aren't visible in the environment aren't updated, which speeds up texture updating on most hardware (especially AMD cards).

How To Install Sodium Mod

Check that you have the most recent version of Fabric Loader installed. After that, all you have to do is place the mod into your mods folder. To utilize Sodium, no further changes (not even the Fabric API!) are necessary. It is not necessary to create new worlds in order to use the mod.

Configuration

The video settings panel is replaced by a new and better user interface that has all of the bells and whistles for adjusting Sodium. Sodium will activate all optimizations that are supported on your machine by default. Unless you are encountering issues, there is no need to modify any settings in the "Advanced" section because the optimum options are already selected.
